if it's the double sliding doors, that meet in the middle, just put your thumb and forefinger between the doors and push it open, should slide open easy enough, failing that just jump onto the convayor belt with a homemade barcode located on your bodySometimes i surprise myself by being right.0

I remembered reading about it some time ago, as it stirred up a lot of controversy resulting in a few press articles.0

The OP was merely stating an opinion, there is really no need for some of the rude and unhelpful replies!
MSE is a great community - please lets not have any of the stupid fighting that has ruined so many other forums.
Thanks - this is just my thoughts.0 -
I guess I'm lucky- my local Lidl has unlocked gates on the closed tills which are easy to open, and my Aldi has plenty of space around the open aisles to simply walk out.
At tescos I frequently just hop over those tapes that they put across closed tills- can't see how they're ever going to stop anybody remotely able-bodied:).0 -

IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
My Aldi has the same problem. There's only ever one till open and that's the only way out but there's usually a big queue and not a lot of space to get round it. BTW, off topic, but do they really have to chuck everything off so fast you can't pack it, and then while you're trying to catch the shopping before it hits the ground, ask you for your payment? Tesco sometimes do this (if you get an unhelpful person or someone who is in a bad mood) but Aldi are the limit! They even have a section on their website justifying their behaviour!0

It's not just supermarkets.
My local wickes is exactly the same- i've almost stopped going in for paint charts- they don't want to let you out till you have bought 10 litres of sunshine yellow.
Good job wilkinsons is cheaper, the own brand paint is excellent and they actually let you outthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

I think this is rediculous (I'm referring to the quote above here), the OP made a claim he couldn't get out, personally I find this hard to believe, but it has been a while since I've been to these types of store so I can only remember what the way in looks like - not what the closed tills look like.
The OP said the shop was "Heaving with people" this suggests that people are coming into the shop, so the thing most of us would think about doing in this situation would be to see if someone was about to come into the store, if 'yes', then wait by the door, if 'no' then look at the locking mechanism of the closed tills and try to unlock it. Replaceing it behind you is at your discretion. If you cannot unlock the gate or step over it, just say "excuse me" to the nearest staff member, if that happens to be the person on the till - so be it - then when you have their attention ask them to let you out.
I don't think any replies have been rude or unhelpful, the replies have been as expected for a topic like this and the replies have been acceptable. <and these were just my thoughts>0
