Title Deeds for a flat

Hi,

Does anyone know if a purchaser of a flat in a newly built development supposed to receive title deeds as well as a copy of a title register on completion? Or is it the case that title deeds are no longer issued for flats and a title register is the only proof of ownership of a flat these days? Thanks.

    Hi unless you bought the flat outright the title deed is normally held by your lender as they are technically the owner. Thats how it works in Scotland anyway.

    Hi there will be either a Charge Certificate (if there is a mortgage) which is held by the lender (although some actually don't require it as the Land Registry is the proof of title) or a Land Certificate (which you can hold) if there is no mortgage.

    most "deeds" are now processed electronically these days - so paper copies are not necessarily sent out.

    Thanks for the replies. I rang my solicitor and he said I was to supposed to receive an official copy of the lease (which I never did) and a copy of the title register and that's all.
