British Gas screwed up...

They gave me a bill this week for £300 using an estimated reading, I complained and it dropped to £45, then the next day it rose to £220. Phones up and complained again as they had again taken an estimated reading. Gave them the correct reading and they cancelled my bill....sayid I had paid too much before  cannot complain, has anyone else been so lucky??

Not sure how or why they would change the read again after one day? Also there was no luck involved. It was you being responsible and advising a company of the correct meter reading. I wish more people would do so then so many problems we hear about on this forum would not exist!

I wish it was that simple.

How are you getting a different figure daily? Are you checking online? How can you have used from £45 to £115 in 2 days!

Why have they not got it right? Are they billing you on the correct meter? Did they take AND bill you from a correct meter read when you moved in. If not what reason have they given that they cannot use your reads?

Why have they not got it right? Are they billing you on the correct meter? No Did they take AND bill you from a correct meter read when you moved in. Yes - over 12 years ago always been with BG THEY have decided (in the last two years) that I have moved, I haven't, that I must have changed suppliers, I haven't, I got a new meter, I haven't. If not what reason have they given that they cannot use your reads?

They say they cannot use my readings as the meter number doesn't tally with what they have.
They have now been investigating it for over a year.
I have asked them to come and read my meter themselves but they seem incapable of doing so.
When I guy turned up to get a reading from a neighbour I asked if he was going to read mine - "No" he said "You don't get your gas from BG"

If it has been passed to a specialist team they should be able to resolve this. If not request they pass the details to CET.
