Paid in US Dollars?

Anyone know how I can spend these pls? Not sure what to do with them. Earned about $29 from doing two survey sites but stuck as to how to spend them. When my balance got down to zero Pounds Sterling but still had US Dollars in my account had to pay full balance by credit card. Sorry for stupid question and hope someone can help?

I take it since you are talking about sterling balance, Dollar balance and credit cards you mean the money is in your Payapl account. In which case you can transfer money from the dollar account into your sterling account.

When I had a dollar balance in paypal it wouldn't let me transfer it across to my sterling balance. Instead I had to withdraw it to my bank, pay my 25p as it was under £50 and then lose some on the exchange rate as well.

That was myy one and only time of listing on ebay.com and it was so confusing dealing with Americans all the time I now only list on ebay.uk and in sterling and let my buyers pay me in sterling.

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately it won't let me spend it on ebay when my sterling balance is at zero. So I guess I will have to pay it into my bank account which wouldn't be too bad if i lost a little on exchange 'cause it was free money anyway :rotfl: or either buy off an american site. Don't know many american sites to be honest just us equivalents of like ebay and amazon. I guess delivery etc might be really expensive?

  • Try buying something small from ebay.com? I've bought loads from America & never had a problem with customs, as long as you keep it below £19, if I remember rightly.

If you see something you like on ebay that is from a US seller and postage isn't shown to the UK then ask the seller before bidding. Many sellers are more than happy to ship to the UK and will give you a p and p charge if you ask. Don't take an estimate though, either the seller gives you a firm price or you don't bid.

I buy lots from the US and other places and have never had problems. I usually tend to stick to the customs limit though.
