PC Hard Drive Space Question

I have an old PC with limited space on the hard drive.

I downloaded something earlier and went to look at how much space I had left.......and i've gained 2.3GB :eek:

I have deleted nothing.

Is there a tool I can use to see if it tells me another story?

I use XP and i've re-started the PC, but the same space approx is showing.

Did what you downloaded replace an earlier bigger version of the file?

Do you have anything on your system that could run a disk cleanup at certain intervals? I think some versions of McAfee do this for example.

Basically the software can just be set to empty the internet cache, temporary files and so on that can take up a lot of space.

I like spacemonger for visualising the space usage on my hard drvies.

Vaio - No, I didn't download a larger file of something I already had. It was a 2 track CD

turbobob - I have Mcafee and it cleans things etc etc and I use CCleaner as well. I use these everyday

I still have the space, so I have no idea what has happened. Everything seems to be working fine though!
