A&L Verified by Visa

Recently while using my visa debit card online, Ive had these pop ups when checking out for Verified by Visa.

The first time it came up and after doing some research on it I entered my details to register my card. I got an error message back saying that the details I have entered dont match those that are held on the database for my card!! !!!!!!
I was able to bypass the first two times it came up but the third time I had to register and lo and behold I got the same error message:confused:

On screen was an 0844 number to ring A&L to get it sorted, rang it was in a cue for 25 mins, to end up being told to visit a site online and register there.
I explained to the guy on the phone thats what I had been doing, was registering the card, but couldnt and was directed to this number that I had rang.

I was given an enormously long website address, which when entered wont work as it keeps timing out:confused:

This is the address I was given over the phone, which was read back to the staff member and confirmed as correct

w.w.w.securesuite.co.uk/alliance:leicester/registration/welcome.gsp?partner=retail

There is zero info on the A&L websites about this, and all cals to the call centre end up with no help as they all claim that this is operated by Visa and not A&L, and I should contact Visa!

Is or has anyone else had this happen and can advise the way forward, as presently my card is blocked online because of this:mad:

ps i put the dots in the www so you could see the whole address I was given

One of the big problems with vbv and securecode is that instead of using urls which represent the banks - they've combined their services into https://www.securesite.co.uk and other such urls.

It's made a lot of people wonder whether they are actually being sent to phishing sites for signup.

I can't confirm the full url - but I can confirm that https://www.securesite.co.uk is a valid vbv site.

  • Thanks for your help MPH80.

I can confirm that my problem is now sorted, as when trying to make an online purchase over the weekend, the vbv registration came up again.

This time before entering my details, I checked and double checked and noticed for the first time that A&L have my postcode incorrect, well the last 2 letters anyway!
I entered this incorrect postcode and the registration was completed - woo hoo!
