Reusing carpet gripper rods

We're having new carpets fitted on Monday and the quote included all grippers underlay etc
Do gripper rods lose their effectiveness? we've not taken up the old grippers from on the stairs and were wondering if it was worth doing so that they put new ones down or is it unlikely to make much difference. There are two different brands on the stairs already so it looks like some of them have probably been used more than one already.

They can be re-used, ring the shop tomorrow and tell them which areas need gripper and which don't and ask them to knock it off the quote.Bulletproof0

gripper rods can be used again and again, unless they've been hammered out of shape!!!
for the new grippers, they will charge by the metre or something, so just let them know that you keeping some of the old grippers.0
