peculiar call

Not sure if this is the right section but need some advice - I got a odd call about 10 mins ago from 0121779 8700 and some one claiming to be calling on behalf of dwp regarding a claim for incapacity benefit - which I have never been in receipt of then asking if I was on jsa and then wanting my work details - I would not give these out as if they were who they said they would surely know this from my ni number etc also from their database which surely would register the details of the company I went to work for when I signed off the dole.

Told them to put this request in writing and was then told they would make me an appt at the jobcentre .................not sure how or why I should have to attend as work full time and they already know I am working.

Is this legitimate.
