I have two yoghurt makers, one from a car boot sale (very seventies) and one from a charity shop which I managed to drop a can of chick peas on yesterday, so it smashed the lid, but it is still useable. I have also made it in a wide necked thermos flask, the kind you use to put food in. The only times I have had any problems is when the yoghurt curdled for some reason and then we made it into yoghurt drinks in the blender.

Just a thought - would making yoghurt in a slow cooker work? It would be easier than trying to get the yoghurt out of a thermos flask! Anyone tried it?

i know this is a very old thread but i just want to mention that I add 1tb sugar BEFORE starting the yogurt making process and the result has been the best natch of yogurt ever!

    It was:
1l of Moo Organic Semi Skimmed Longlife Milk
3TB Yeo Valley Full Fat Natural Yogurt
    3TB sugar
    3TB dried milk

    :p
