CAR PARKING off peak on yellow lines
Options
Hi there,
I am a bit confused about parking my car on the road with single or double yellow lines in London
As I understand, I can park on a single yellow line on the road after 6:30 PM weekdays and all weekends??
Is my presumtion right?
This I havent found anywhere written.
And what about the double yellow lines?
Can you actually park on the double yellow lines at anytime??
And finally, do these parking restrictions vary from area to area within the same city like London also.
Kindly advice. Many thanks for looking in

Double Yellows - No Parking at anytime (there may be some local differences though!).
Single Yellow lines will have restriction times on posts on the pavement.0 -
Thanks. But most times I am unable to find any restrictions anywhere on the pavement or the notice board or post.

If there are no signs up with the Yellow Lines then they are unenforceable!0

but don't forget to take photos showing that there aren't any signs so if they don't back down, you can prove it, and if necessary prove it in court0

I'm surprised that "most times" you can't find the parking restrictions on a post. As previously posted, the lines are unenforceable without the post parking restrictions. The council would pretty quickly sort it out if there were errors like this all over the place.0

If there is no post next to the yellow line, then look along at parking bays, they will tell you the time that the yellow lines are inforceable as ultimately the time you can park in a bay is the time you can park on a single yellow. Im very surprised you arent finding them, as in the parts of London Im in they are generally every other parking bay!0

From January 2003 it seems that councils are not required to erect "any time"
restriction signs for double yellow lines, YELLOW LINESDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Hmm that means some nice free parking available. Make sure you photograph the missing signs (er...?)0

Yup. I think the council traffic wardens don't even bother coming round here anymore because of this. It's not right.0
