Identity fraud protection on Goldfish?

Hi,

I have recently received my Goldfish-cc. When talking to one of their advisors on the phone today, he started talking about identity fraud.
He advised that they had several options available to protect me against it. When i asked whether he was talking about insurance, he replied: "Yes".

Now, when people try to sell me insurance, always get a bit wary (mobile phone insurance, PPI,....). So I told him that I didn't want to sign up right now, but would have a think about it. He then kept on stressing that as it is a new account, they advise me to take it on, and would cost as little as 5 pounds per months.

The thing is, was he just trying his best to sell this to me, or do i really need this? Is there no standard protection that i have anyway if I would become the victim of identity fraud? If any, what is the added value of this protection insurance that I would not have already by normal legislation?

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Yes you are covered for identity fraud by current UK legislation anyway.

Provided you are not negligent with your PIN number, then the most you should ever lose is £50 - this is in the Banking code.

The CS rep is just trying to sell you something you don't need, just politely decline his kind offer :money:

What NickX says is true (In Theory).

Being a victim of ID theft can cost you dear, in time, worry and even proving it wasn't you who applied for a loan/card etc.

But you can take proactive steps to protect yourself from ID theft
