Krakov - Poland- Any ideas ?

Hiya all,
Just booked flights to krakov on 8 june for 3 days with the intention of visiting Aushwitz.
any ideas on whre to stay -what to do - where to eat,drink etc and also some ideas on the cost of living (Hotels,resturants, travel etc )

I visited Krakow a few years ago and it was pretty cheap to eat and drink although nopw with all the budget carriers flying there i'd imagine prices have gone up quite a bit.

When i was there lots of firms offered trips to auschwitz but it was a lot cheaper and just as easy to get the local bus from outside the train station which went direct to the village of auschwitz.

It's generally pretty cheap, most of the restaurants in the main tourist areas have menus in English, but it's worth reading up on Polish food a little first, because sometimes the English translations don't help all that much.

As blue-haddock says it's cheaper to make your own way to Auschwitz, but if you want to take a tour, there is an agency on every block.
