Does anyone know where I can find a list of landlords or letting agents in west sussex who accept people on housing benefit. Retired, have deposit and can top up rent and 6 years of paying rent to current landlord who is now selling

I've not heard of anybody ever having a list.
You'd have to look in shop windows, local classified ads, free classifieds online, such as gumtree.com - the people who take DSS are the landlords who are most likely to not be working through an estate agent.
However, as you are retired/on housing benefits, your position might be seen in a better light by some landlords with agents. So I'd say it's worthwhile contacting agents and going in with the "We are pensioners .... we do claim HB ...." line.
Are you on the council housing list for pensioner bungalows? Might take awhile but it'd be nice if your name was down already.0 -
Hi,
Speak to the Council Housing Department (or may be Environmental Health in some places) - some run landlord accreditation schemes and have the information not only on who accepts HB (or LHA from yesterday !!) but who the good landlords are.
Good luck0 -
None that I know of.
Is this relevant?
Homemove is the lettings scheme for council and housing association homes in Adur, Arun, Brighton & Hove, Chichester, Hastings, Rother and Wealden, giving you more choice about where you want to live.
