Despite what Paul Grant says, I don't believe Bath Building Society have a system of identifying envelopes containing cheques to be sent first class. They probably send everything second class to save on postage cost.

I believe Bath BS are happy to send cheques second class, longer it takes for them to clear better for them.

Westbromwich and Cheshire are others to watch, first one delays posting out, usually transacts one day then does covering letter another day, latter one posts out on a tuesday even though instructions were sent several days beforehand.

On occasions, and on other occasions they bank with me :rotfl:

In true competitive spirit, I use a few institutions nowadays in case I need a few bob "out of hours" and also due to the decentish rates on current a/c.s which are currently available.

I think BLF meant that as the collection account for Lougborough BS is held with Lloyds, any 'walk in' cheque they may haved paid into that account for you would have cleared the very same day (Monday?)
