I've always heard how you are protected from fraud by using a credit card to make internet purchases, but now that I need to use the protection I can't find anything telling me what my rights are & how to pursue them.
I have a Bank of Scotland Classic Mastercard which I used to pay for an Ebay auction where I won a camera. The seller sent me a reconditioned rather than new camera so I returned it and cancelled the sale. They agreed to do so and have emailed me stating they've refunded my money, but they haven't and no longer answer emails.
SO where do I go from here in getting the money back?
Sorry, I know this is probably a totally newbie question, and I'm usually better informed than this, but we have a new baby (why the camera was bought) and my brains are somewhat scrambled.
PS Am I right in thinking that they should also be refunding the return postage on the item?

Did you use PayPal, if so you're fully protected. Simply file a complaint.
If not, I think eBay has its own consumer protection thingy - look around the website's help section.0 -
You can contact BoS and ask them to issue a chargeback against the transaction citing the fact that the goods were not as advertised and returned.
This will effectively reverse the transaction causing a credit on your account. Note that this is provisional as the merchant may appeal the chargeback. However, in this case I doubt you'll hear anything from them again.
You are probably due a refund on the postage costs too, but I wouldn't hold your breath for that.The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.0
