2 silly questions on transfering ISA

ive just opened an isa with A&L, i want to transfer my Halifax ISA to it. A&L have sent me the 'cash ISA account transfer form', but i have 2 questions which probably sound really stupid!

1.It says on the form to send it to my existing ISA provider yet they have included an envelope addressed to A&L, im guessing this must be for somethng else - am i right? also do i send to my local branch of Halifax or some other address?

2. it says 'my evidence of investment / passbook is enclosed.' do they want me to send the actual book not just a photocopy? and if i cant find the passbook what other evidence of investment will they accept? a statement maybe?

Only thing I could then suggest is ring them? I know it would be a pain if they replied saying 'we need your actual passbook to continue, n ot a photocopy', but then again I know If i had a lot of money in there I wouldn't want it to go posting!

If you have a branch within reasonably easy reach, take it in to them there.

good idea, i might do that on Monday.
  • jacksons mum, I wonder what account type you have. I have an internet ISA Account with firstdirect. All i do to transfer funds is to email them.

Customers should always read conditions pertaining to transfers/penalties be4 opening accounts. All those 'rosy' offers often have insurmountable conditions.

i dont have a clue what type of account it is. i opened it about 8 years ago - i was only young and just went with the bank i had my current account with. i do have internet access to it now. i think i will just go it my branch and see what they say.
