T-Mobile, In Contract, Tariff's

Good afternoon,

I hope somebody can help me, it would be much appricieated.

I am on a Flex-T 35 tariff from T-Mobile, for £35 per month I get £180 worth of calls & texts at 10p per text and 5p per call.

The contract is for 18 months and expires in Nov-08. I am now able to change to another tariff however.

I have just called T-Mobile who seem to be very unhelpful. I can go onto a Flex-T 30 and pay £30 per month for £90 worth of calls & texts at 12p per text and 20p per call.

Or Flex-T 20 which gives me £20 of calls & texts at the same rates for £20.

These options seem terrible compared to the new customer tarriff’s.

Is there any chance of negotiation considering I am still on a contract until November?

Thanks….

Since it seems you signed up before August 07 you'll get the 'new Flext' if you change - which means you have to PAY for voicemail on top of your allowance, and a minimum of 1 minute gets taken off no matter how long any call you make is.

The only difference between what you're being offered and a new customer should be the £5 off and, depending on tariff, free weekend calls. They should be allowing you to switch onto the 18-month version of whatever you want because you are on an 18-month contract, so check on that. Then Flext 20/25/30 would give you £34/60/90 allowance respectively.

There will always be better or different deals on offer for new customers, they know you are in contract and there is no risk of losing you right now, so there is no incentive for them to give you anything other than a change to a current tariff. If you use up the allowance (or, I should say, your usage would cost more than £35 if you were to move to Flext 30), then stick to what you have.

By the way, your rates are way off. They have always been as follows for all Flext plans, save for the voicemail which used to be included as 'voice calls'.

    Quick guide to costs
Call, text and picture message costs
UK voice calls 20p per minute
    UK text messages 10p each
    UK picture messages 20p each
Costs stay the same even if you use up all your allowance.
    Not included in your allowance
UK voicemail retrieval 12p per minute

  • Thanks Sid,

Yeah I've just been Excel-ing with my bills. I am being charged 20p per min for calls. The bloke at t-mobile said it was 5p, maybe I mis-heard.

I dont use anywhere near the allowance, I use about 200 mins of calls and 100 texts, coming to £50's worth of usage.

    Thanks again Sid.

    Hi,

Change over to Flext 25 giving £60 allowance, but do bear in mind what Sid has said, as you will be charged for the first minute in full + voicemail @ 12p per minute. You can turn voicemail off, and just use the text alert you get when you have a missed call.

    Cheers
  • Thanks alnsv, they just called me back and suggested flext25. I hate listening to voicemail anyway so quite happy to do without. Its only for personal calls anyway.
