trying to get cheaper car insurance

Hi all,
Just need some advice.
I got my renewal car insurance quote of 432 pounds yesterday from tesco. So i went to firstdirect.com, and as you might know, they guarantee to beat your renewal quote by 30 pounds.
so my quote came down to 402 by firstdirect. I then contacted tesco, and they agreed to match the quote by first direct.
so here comes my dilemma.
I can go back to first direct, and put in my new quote, and still reduce my quote by another 30 pounds (ie from the original 432 to 372). I have actually done this already, and the new quote is indeed 372.
Would you recommend such a thing? technically i am not doing anything wrong. But i only have a 1 year no claims bonus (new driver), and the deal i have with tesco now offers me an extra year no claims bonus free (so my quote is based on 2 year no claim bonus, while i only have 1 year no claim bonus). Obviously i would lose this if i leave tesco, meaning next year my quote might be a lot higher.... should i leave tesco for an extra 30 quid, or should i stay, as i have already reduced my quote by 30 quid, and on top of that, my next year quote will be cheaper with tesco too?
any advice would be highly appreciated.

If they are only guaranteeing to beet your renewal quote then you can't do this. They are not saying that they'll beat your _best_ quote.
Your renewal quote is 432. if you tell First Direct anything different then this would be incorrect information and they could make things very difficult for you if you needed to claim.0 -
Have you tried the comparison websites or direct lineNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I disaree. Yes, they offer to beat your 'renewal quote'. They do not restrict this to your first renewal quote. Tesco have offered a new renewal quote, as long as you can get proof of the price from Tesco there is no problem. His or her renewal quote is not now £432, it is £402.0 -
It might be worth to keep shopping around. Insurance companies will take on your history of no-claims, as long as your honest with them. I got a renewal premium from my insurance asking £500. I phoned a couple of other companies and told my existing insurance company that I'd got far more competitive quotes. They came back to me with a premium offer for £330.0

thanks for your replies.
Jimmy, first direct says they 'beat your existing car insurance renewal by at least £30'. Tesco is going to send me a letter with with my insurance renewal quote to be 402. i dont see why direct line will have a problem with that.
I have used ALL the comparison sites which i know of, and the cheapest quote i got was around 470. so i have already done pretty well out of this. i guess im getting a little bit greedy.
I just dont want to get a £30 extra discount this year in the expense of losing more next year!0 -
Sounds like you are working them well. At the end of the day they will ask for a premium and weigh up the risks. If you are a safe and competent driver, then you are always going to be a good customer and worth a lower premium to them and save you money as well.Good luck!0
