If we'd been scared off by a falling market we'd still be renting.
No you wouldn't. You'd have bought in 1995 instead and been able to spend thousands more on your standard of living instead of your mortgage.

    Hi

I am 45. I bought my first flat in 1987 in London. Since then I have paid out the following:-

    £140k interest, £92K capital and £15k endowment, $15k moving costs. Total £262k.

Last summer someone would have paid £650k for my house.

My point is if I hadn't have bought I would have to rent. The current rental value of my house is £2.5k per month. My house would have to fall a long long way before I would have been better off renting...:D:cool:

Not sure what you're saying BtbF should I go back in time and buy a place? Or buy now cos "in the long term prices always go up"?

As we can't go back in time (to the late 1800's or even late 1900's) to purchase a house, I'm afraid we can only conclude that the whole point of this thread is to for BtbF to let everyone know she has a £650,000.00 house.

It's all a bit sad really :undecided. I'm actually embarrassed for BtbF :embarasse .

Yes, seems odd to create a thread and then delete the first post. Luckily I have the original post here:

Canx thread - Don't want to be part of DDs silly games. Go and do some work DD before you get the sack. That's if you have a job since you have been on here solidly since Sunday and have the time to trawl through my old threads. Now I truly do have better things to do than play silly games with you.

I can't help it that you are so embarassed by your own thread that you delete your OP, I also can't help that it was ressurected in Post 20 - you may notice that I first posted in post 23.

Get your fact right BtbF. :naughty:

I can understand why you're upset though, how embarrasing to have to brag about your 650k house on an internet forum just to 'big' yourself up! :o

Oh dear, think we hit a sensitive spot there DD....Just reading elsewhere on house prices, and Conrad's post (below) made me think of BtbF.....and brought me back here...

"Meanwhile, greedy owners have mentally banked that free magic money from house price growth and simply cannot get thier heads around actually giving away this free imaginary cash that only last year seemed so real.

I'm an owner yet I thinks it's better for society to have more affordable homes so thtose at the bottom stand a chance of reaching the first rung.

Greedy owners remind me of those type that are all smiles and love with friends but that would fight their siblings / relatives to the death for a cut of a will."

BtbF now has pride hurt too! shame....thk must be a boy cos while a girl may be smug, a boy more likely to brag publicly, but there again, a girl would be more likely to be embarrassed enuf to delete their OP, then a boy would be more likely to retaliate again....

So boy or girl???? own up BtbF....thx for the sport BTW :)

    Talking to yourself again:rolleyes:

Ah, I see what you're trying to do here BtbF. You're now implying that "Dithering Dad" has created an alter-ego called "newbird" in order to support himself on this thread. Well, unlike yourself with your House Purchase TARDIS, "Dithering Dad" who joined MSE in Feb 2007, whould have to go back in time to Jan 2004 in order to create his "newbird" alter-ego.

Let me tell you, if I did indeed have a TARDIS, I'd be using it for more financially beneficial reasons than for creating MSE logon IDs!!!!!

You really are a bit pathetic today BtbF. :rotfl:

EDIT: OH! You seem to have deleted that message as well as your OP message. How funny!
