Rent In Advance Question......need Help

I am in a rented property and i paid a month rent in advance when i moved in, i have always paid on the 3rd of a month, i have now handed in my notice so does that mean i get april as a free month?? getting confused

    Hi Cheryl say for instance you had a 1 year lease starting 1st may and you paid the rent "in advance' on 3rd may you would still have to pay on the 3rd of april "in advance" for that month. At the end of April you will have been in the property 12 months and paid 12 sets of rent.

    In advance means you pay before you use the weeks as opposed to in arrears as HB works.

    :rotfl: the same happened to me a few week ago when I as moving - i got confused and was not sure when i was supposed to stop the standing order.
    so I took a pen, a piece of paper and wrote down all the months I lived there, and check what i paid, when

    so yes, you should have to pay on April 3rd - and if standing order, stop it with your bank immediately after that to avoid problems.
    in my case I was paying on the 23rd of the month, so it felt a bit like I had a free month :rolleyes:
