the way the servces work is laid out on the rm site.
only special delivery is tracked0 -
its been a week and still nothing!and it makes me so mad that they dont advise you when you use recorded that it can take weeks and why cant you bloody well track the items until AFTER they have been posted?GRRRR
For trackable you need to pay more for special delivery.
So RM will have no details until Joe Bloggs signs for it at the other end. Assuming it is for Joe Bloggs.0 -

I tracked a recorded delivery item last week. It told me when it had reached the sorting office, then when it was out for delivery, then when it had reached the destination.
Having said that, I sent something Guaranteed Next Day Delivery a while back, was sent on a Monday and didn't arrive until the Friday!!!!!! When I complained I got a refund of the cost plus about £5 I think. Hardly compensation for a very important CD!:mad:0 -
Not sure if it's reevant but my old man is a postie in the North West and at his branch they are introducing something called "pegasus" whish is supposed to rationlise all the individual posties rounds and make them more efficient.
So far it appears to have caused nothing but grief, like for instance, his contract is 4 hours per day but yesterday it took over 11 hours to sort and deliver a round that has been "pegasussed" (including all the stuff that had been backing up because of the implementation.)
I assume that if this is happening in one sorting office it is happening in many more too.
HTHI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

yeah pegasus is great
basically a data crunching software to work out how long it should take to cover a delivery.
unforunatly it thinkgs stairs, long driveways, hills etc have little/no eefect on delivery times.
i could tell a few tales on pegasus including an office where the management threw out the results as it told them they needed more staff :rotfl:0 -

Reminds me of school, for years the head of maths worked out the timetables for the school every year. Then one years it was decided to be given to a physics teacher who had a computer program for calculating lesson timetables. That was the dreaded year we had things like triple german!!! The next year it was given back to the head of maths to do it "by hand". As much of a techie I am, unless you take into account all the possible human elements and real world variables you're going to risk getting impractical results from calculating computer programs. Saying that they can be very efficient and design things no human ever could but you've got to give it the right parameters to begin with."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

i have no problem with the software if they set the perameters
however rm accept the results when it suits but disregard when it doesnt
ive never seen results 1st hand but from postie forums(yes they exist) ive heard of the results.
delivery offices work a weird system off seniority and getting 1st pick of (the best)duties.
its like giving 2 kids a piece of cake and one cuts the half and gets to pick what half they get.
obviously they pick the best half0 -

Should be RM's new slogan. "It's not all bad". :rotfl:"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
