Large bank charges

I have successfully reclaimed small amounts from credit cards but have a large sum (£9,500) to attempt to reclaim from Lloyds TSB for bank charges. Due to the amount I have been putting it off as I seem to remember that the small claims system only allows for claims up to £5,000. Has anyone attempted to claim an amount of over £5,000 and if so how did you do it and how did you get on? Any advice would be really appreciated!
Thanks
Wendy

  • The limit for small claims court is £100,000. The myth of £5000 came about because over this amount, you could be made to pay costs if you lost. Many people have tried and won claims over £5000, however with the OFT test case, most claims are being logged by banks but are on hold pending the decision of the High Court in London.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
