Natwest Charges

Hi folks

I keep getting a £28.00 charge on my account each month, in addition to overdraft interest charges. I seem to get it even if I'm not over my agreed overdraft limit. Also, AFAIK no debits have been refused either. Does Natwest now charge each month and if so, when did they start this: I don't think I received any notification that they were going to do this.

    * Sounds like a serious banking error to me. Have you been signed up to Adv gold?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I don't think so - I certainly haven't been informed. I'll give them a call later.

I used to have an advantage gold account with them and I used to have monthly charges of £40 - £28 for going over my agreed overdraft limit (happened every month because the £28 charge put me over!) and £12 for advantage gold.

If you're not doing anything wrong then I would think it's a banking error and they would refund you if you asked them - there's no way they couldn't give it back to you if you weren't due any charges...

  • £28 is a maintenance charge, that means that the overdraft whether agreed or not agreed has been exceeded. THe charge goes out a month afterwards. There has been some posts where people have stated they were charged when they were in credit(NOT THIS THREAD), which could occur if a cheque is paid into an account and an item takes the accounts over it agreed facility on cleared funds as a cheque is uncleared funds. Hope it helps. The March charge is for February so have a look at the bank statement for that month. The end of the charging period is normally the date the maintenance charge has gone out on.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
