The headlight bulbs are the awkward ones - and I believe Halfords have now taken it off their fit list. To get to the headlight the easiest way is to remove the bumper, otherwise there is a panel in the inner wheelarch to come off to gain access but that requires a contortionist with a double jointed wrist and thin hands! The rear lights are really not an issue as the above has stated.
THats Audis of the future shoppin list then!!

I can't understand why MFR's make it so difficult to change bulbs (other than of course to get you in so they can force you to pay to get them changed, using their amazing special technical experience  ). Only difficutly I have on my car is screws rusting in on the rear fog/reverse lights, and also the side direction repeaters. All the others are a piece of cake to get to.
  • Take your screwdriver and unscrew the single screw in the opening. The tail brake light assembly should come out of the vehicle. Press the tabs to release the back of the tail light assembly from the front housing of the unit. The actual bulbs are located on the rear unit. Extract the old bulb by hand. You may want to use a glove to avoiding putting any dirt or oil on the new bulb.Replace the housing by carefully sliding it back into the back of the A4. Perform this with care so you do not accidently scratch the paint. From the interior of the trunk reattach the unit with the original screw.Test your turn signal and hazard lights.

I suspect in the 6 years that have elapsed since the OP originally posted, the bulb has been changed...

I also think that as a bulb is a safety item, it is a disgrace that manufactuers make them so difficult to change
Especially as in France you have to ( well you used to, not sure if rule still applies) carry set of spare bulbs in the car

Still they never insisted you had to be able to fit them too !

As to old posts coming up again, there are many reasons why its fine to resurect them - but why doesn;t the forum software highglight the fact that you are adding to a thread which is 1, 2 or more years old when you press the reply button - seems an obvious fix

you never know - after all the OP did return to this thread 2 years later in 2007 and confirm that they did try to change to bulb - see #9

you never know they may come back for their 10th anniversary :D

why a new poster should search for this topic and feel the need to contribute to what is then a 3 1/2year old thread for their 1st outing is another matter
