Yes I think line markings on roads would help a LOT! I always keep 2 triangle thingys away when they appear but its rare to see them!

I was keeping quite a distance. That's shocked me even more as I thought I was at sufficient.. but I thought wrong!!!! I suppose its an expensive lesson. Wish it was a "near crash" cheaper lesson though!
Look I really AM going to bed now but I cross posted a PS to my previous message. It is an expensive lesson but best learn it young. And another lesson, never argue with anything BIGGER or HEAVIER than you - I used to see the accident reports for the bin lorries for a local authority, also those involving 'street furniture' - lamp-posts, bollards etc. NOTHING 'domestic' will win an argument with a bin lorry or a bus: they will write you off without a scratch. And these days no 'normal' car will win an argument with anything with bull bars ...

Try to keep cheerful, and be very helpful to your parents right now. They'll be shook up too!

BTW, my son was 'very surprised' when he saw the scratches on the back corner of our car, I'm 'very surprised' anyone could have scraped off so much paint and left some of it on the gate without realising, and since I know it wasn't me and my DH can get on and off the drive very easily, the only appropriate response from my son was 'very sorry', lots of washing up, and general helpfulness! At least our damage is just cosmetic, and I can't ban him from using the car because I need him to taxi me about! :rotfl:

Great news! At least that is one less thing to worry about.

Now, start thinking about enjoying your 18th.
