    The Top Cards
    • The winners, 0% for 12 months

The best 0% deal for new borrowing is HSBC's* credit card with 0% for 12 months followed by 15.9% APR. Halifax* offers the same length 0% period and also rises to 15.9% APR after a year. Watch out though, this deal is only available through a few price comparison sites (this link takes you through one of them); apply elsewhere and you may get a different deal.
    • Other 0% cards with cashback or rewards

To further up the gain, you can use 0% for purchases cards which pay cashback and those with sign-up freebies. However here the 0% will often be a little shorter, this option means you'll need to be a little more active. The Leeds BS credit card offers six months 0%, and pays you cash back for every purchase you make (read the full Cashback Cards article). Shopping rewards points are available with M&S &More (0% for 6 months), Amazon (0% for 6 months), and SkyCard (0% for 3 months).

    • Heavy Tesco or Sainsburys Spender? Tesco’s and Sainsbury's* credit cards offer 0% for for 13 months on Tesco and 12 months on Sainsbury's purchases respectively, yet only 3 months for spending elsewhere. This is worth it if you regularly shop in either. They also each give loyalty points; Clubcard points from Tesco and Nectar from Sainsbury's.
