bank charges on benefit social security act 1992

hi, i went overdrawn £1.80 and got a load of charges for about £250 ,,i phoned bank loads of times but got nowhere i went to see bank manager and quoted the social security act of 1992 at him as i am on incapacity benefit and he said he would do a referal ..i waited 3 weeks but heard nothing back so i phoned up today and was told i was turned down for a refund on the charges 2 weeks ago, they did not even send me a letter telling me ..they said that their legal team have looked at my complaint about the 1992 act and that they are allowed to charge me,,,is this right or are they telling lies...i think they are very mean seeing as i only went £1.80 overdrawn , i had to borrow the money to pay it all back before i got more charges and now am worrying about trying to pay it back to the people i borrowed it off......thanks

Yes it is right. Look at the other posts on the subject
  • Unfortunately it is right, but I would read Martin's guide to reclaiming because your circumstances may be the definition of hardship under the FSA waiver granted to the banks since July 2007 announcement of the OFT test case.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
