  • So how do you get SSP, how is the country defended, how did you learn to type, oh yeah taxes from all the above
...yes, taxes. Which I'm happy to pay. It's one of the things that makes this country great, that each of us chips in a little to provide every citizen a safety net, an education... even, going back to the topic of this thread, decent TV. ;)
This alone makes your post invalid.
How so? It's no more ridiculous, immature, demeaning or plain thick than the numerous instances of "liberal left", "leftoid", "Marxist", "parasite" and many other delightfully Littlejohn-tastic terms used for no real reason other than to shout down and demonise the pro-license fee posters here, is it?

Maybe I missed the meeting where everyone decided being left-wing was a bad thing, but "har your a leftie" doesn't really cut it as a decent argument in my book.

The point is this, if companies out there wish to place adverts on TV and noone watches them then thats consumer choice, sales from TV adverts are a part of revenue for TV companies, aswell as selling programmes abroad, but at lease we as a consumer group are given the choice to watch an advert or not, if not stick the kettle on.

No, that's your point. My point was that the advertising revenue comes from all consumers whether or not they watch ITV. The money isn't 'invented', it comes from consumers.

  • I believe the BBC fee to be value for what it broadcasts. Grnated, not everything appeals to everyone. I for example don't believe I should be subsidising Songs of Praise, but doubtless there are people who don't wish to subsidise what I like to watch

Overall having a public sevrice broadcaster is good in that it doesn't have to appease anyone, it can go against companies more as it doesn't rely on them to fund it

I notice one user opposed to the BBC cites the Daily Mail as one of his references. Much like Godwin's Law, when you do that you automatically lose the argument don't you?

To put it more simply; if you buy a product, some of that money indirectly funds the purchasing of ad time on ITV, and therefore the programmes on ITV. Whether you've got a TV or not, and whether the license fee exists or not, you're still paying for telly, either directly or indirectly.

I really did wish that you wouldnt take posts out of context for your own gain, and your post makes no sense, oh well carry on paying

Well I wish you weren't rude, sarcastic and evasive so it seems we may have to compromise.

I'm not sure what you think I've taken out of context because ShelfStacker seemed to understand it.

You, Defiant and the others can jibe, insult and belittle all you like but no-one has actually disproved the point that we all pay for both BBC and ITV irrespective of whether we watch it or not.

Ok for the people at the back of the class.

Its about choice, even if YOU choose not to watch BBC you DONT have the choice NOT to pay for it.

Its what they call a dictatorship

    Jeez

If you choose not to have any TV receiving equipment then you don't need a licence. There you are, another choice for you.

Care to explain how I'm elitist or planning to live off your money? Or is this yet another baseless insult/smear?

Prove to me where I have been rude because not one of my posts have been deleted, go on go and find one, you cant because I dont see any reason to be rude, especially on a forum in cyberspace, just because the majority are against you your now trying any tactic to evade the realism that is the TV licence is not value for money and is unjust.

In your, and other's opinion. This does not make that statement a fact

Well if it about choice then that is one.

Or did someone force you to have a TV, in the same way that BBC News is forced on people?
