I've wondered recently how much of the HPI we've seen over the past few years is as a direct result of NR, or more to the point, Applegarth. Other lenders followed suit but you could argue in order to keep market share in the face of NR's merciless expansion.0

That's a really interesting point, Paul N - not one that had ever occurred to me. So the whole mess UK plc is in could be laid (largely) at the door of one bank, and insofar as he directed policy, one man?
Bet he'll be popular, if that view gains currency... :rolleyes:
Still, his 1m payoff and 2.2 million pound pension pot should help shield him from having to actually come too close to any of the individuals who's lives he's ruined.... :mad:0
