I have changed my location, pc and router, and havent a clue how to set up remote desktop connection to my pc from a laptop at another location. I am not technical and need to know how to open a port on my 3 com router, then what settings to put into the remote login at the laptop end.
Can anyone help? (please!)

I don't know about remote desktop, but if you want to access one computer from another (similar to remote desktop), see http://lifehacker.com/software/feature/special-how-to-control-your-home-computer-from-anywhere-125607.phpPlease use OpenDocument (ISO 26300) format (.odt - .ods - .odp - .odg) for attachments0
