Visa Debit Chargeback Claim

Apologies if this is in the inappropriate forum, wasn't entirely sure where to ask.
I'd like to initiate a chargeback claim through barclays on my visa debit card. From reading about I see I'm entitled too (see Farepack case). What I can not establish, is how far back you can go?
The transaction I'd like to claim back dates back to Dec 2006, I know it's a long time ago, don't ask me why it took until now to sort out. Simply put, can I still do a chargeback on this. The goods were purchased online. It was actually for music tickets but it turned out to be a scam, Tickettout was the company. Many people have been affected by this company. Obviously no goods turned up. It's only recently I became aware that you could do chargebacks on Visa Debit. So again, is it too late to do a chargeback? If it is, is there any other action I could take.
I'm trying to clear up some history and this is one of the things on my list.

Well I called up Barclays today. I went through to the disputes department asked about chargeback, the girl didn;t know what I was talking about, I explained as advised elsehwere on MSE, she spoke to her colleagues. Long story short, they said it was available but only for claims dating a year back, as mine dates back just over a year, they couldn't take up the dispute. I couldn't really argue the toss here. I asked her if she had any advice as for what else I could do, I suggested to her that I guess I'm left with taking it up directly with the company (don't think that's possible), she just said yeh.
Any advice? Not to disbelieve Barclays but is that correct that claims dating back over a year can not be taken on through a chargeback?0 -
As far as credit cards are concerned a chargeback can only be filed within 6 months of the origional transaction. I presume it's the same with debit cards.
Most banks have not heard of chargebacks but if your debit card bares the VISA logo you have the same entitlements as credit card holders.
Sorry but I think you'll be hard pushed to get it.

Need urgent help. Booked flights with Qantas to Thailand on 2nd May, returning 2 wks later. Hadn't managed to book insurance yet but should i or can i go through visa charge back as i used my visa debit card to book for myself and my mum.
Foreign office is currently saying all travel to Thailand now is unsafe so need some clued up advice as to what we can do.
Only options i can see at the moment is to defer but this does not work for me due to work commitments.
Really unsure of my options.
