Virgin: 0% to 27% for being over limit by 200 for 1 day

Hi

I transered a balance to Virgin recently and went over my limit by 200 for one day and now they have put me on 27% and will not reinstate the promotional rate.

do I have any grounds for appeal either to them or ombudsman?

Personally, i'd call them again as if this was the first call and ask if the 0% could be reinstated. No harm in trying.

Did you clear another card with this BT?
If so, will they give you an incentive to keep the card open - If you haven't already closed it?

If you haven't already called them, then it might be worth a try - there should be a free phone number on your statement.

I have a Virgin Card on 0% till next year, but last month I was a few days late making a payment, so they cancelled my 0% deal straight away. I gave them a call as at first I couldn't understand why I was being charged interest.

I apologised for the late payment and asked if the card could be put back on the 0% deal, the first lady I spoke to said no, but I said I wasn't happy with that and asked if I could speak to someone else about it. She put me through to someone else and they re-set my card back to the 0% deal :D

    Good Luck

I have had a mishap with a buy and fly card - I was late with the payment - they put me on the standard % rate. I called customer services and basically groveled as I was the one that had made the mistake! They were good and reinstated my 0%. First thing I do now when I get a new card - set up a DD for the minimum payment and cut the card up!.
