I was told 0%APR, I was given 2.9% APR...now what?

Hi All,
first post in this forum and wanted to ask a question regarding a balance transfer. In January I called MBNA to enquire about balance transfer avaiable. Initially they said 2.9% + 3%h. fee. I had already something better with Egg so I asked if they could match it. They offerred 0% + 3%handling fee, so I decided to move the money.
When I checked my bank statement and noticed that there was an interest rate so I called MBNA to enquire about the interest and I found out that the balance transfer has an APR of 2.9%. I spoke to every possible manager in the MBNA and the standard answer was: "I'm sorry Sir there is nothing on my computer that says that rate was available at that time"    ... I feel gutted... What can I do now and can I take any action agains MBNA? The transfer happened over the phone and I didn't record it...
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Not too sure from reading what you've put there, but is it only the BT fee that has the APR against it and the balance transferred is 0% ?

Are all phone calls not recorded?
Can you get them to check their records and see exactly what was said?

Happened to me once with MBNA, when they put me on a 1.9% deal rather than the 0.9% deal agreed.

I just told them the CSA's name and the date and time of the call. They didn't even bother looking into it, and put me straight back on the rate agreed...and gave me an extra month for my 'trouble'. :)

Just to clarify, we agreed on 0% APR on the balance transfer but then I was given a 2.9%APR... as far as recording the calls, I told them the same but apparently they only record some of the calls...

    Thanks

I wish my experience was as nice as yours. Mine was horrible. I felt they were not listening to what I was saying or at least trying to find a way to solve my problem (and this is not my first bad experience with MBNA, but it is certainly the worst so far). Very disappointed, I'll close the account as soon as the Balance Transfer is over.
They can see the date of the transfer and they have checked the computer record I guess (not the call) but they said there is nothing on the system that suggest a balance tranfer at 0%APR. Only problem is that the 0% APR is what I was told over the phone (do you know if the employee at their call centers get bonus based on the number of balance transfer they set up?)

    Thanks for you reply.

You may as well call them up to enquire when the Balance transfer will be complete so you can close your account. You won't be able to close it straight away, but when they ask why you are closing it you can tell them. The worst they can do is say no ... again.
