Leasehold flat - double buildings insurance?

Hi folks,

I have a flat and pay a yearly service charge which includes the buildings insurance. I'm currently trying to get quotes for the contents and came across DirectLine who are offering buildings & contents cover at £70 cheaper than just the contents insurance. This looks to be part of 30% off promotion they're having at the moment.

Basically, is there a problem with me having double buildings insurance? Obviously I would only claim against one if something happened, but is there anything to stop me having 2 policies for it?

Thanks in advance!
- Ben

The problem is that you couldn't pick which of the two companies to claim against, if you are double insured, then each only has to pay out for its 'share'.

So you would end up claiming against both and possibly paying two lots of excess.
