I sent my Child Trust Fund voucher to Britannia BS as they seemed to be offering one of the best rates and a bonus if the account was opened before 6th April according to Martin's article.
A few weeks passed and I had no reply. I called them and I was informed they recieved the account application form and the voucher but it had expired and they had returned it.
I told them the expiry was 2009 and they must have read the date wrong. As several weeks had passed since they sent it back, it seems it had also unfortunately got lost in the post on the way back to me.
They confirmed they made a mistake with the expiry date and apologised. The lady said if I still wanted to open the account with them, they would honour the offer they had which expired on April 6th for bonus interest.
Today I also received a call from customer care and without any prompt from me, they said they would put an additional £25 in the Trust Fund.
Well Done Britannia! Owning up to their mistake, apologising, ensuring the customer doesn't lose out and offering a gesture of compensation. :T
