Trying to claim Child Credit.

I have a 2 and a half year old son and I work 22.5hours a week. I don't claim Working or Child Tax Credits but I want to! My hours have changed in the last 2.5yrs as has how much I earn. I am now being taxed more(codes changed) and taking home less now after having a small payrise.

I have a HUGE problem with filling out forms and have always been embarrassed to admit this. I know this has cost me a lot of money but now i've been brave and admitted to a close friend how hard I find filling out forms and she will help me to do it.

Problem is, I can't find the exact form on the website. Tried calling but it took ages and I never got to speak to anyone! I can't afford to call again.

Can someone please point me in the right direction & tell me what the forms' called? I'd rather it was just sent to me thorugh the post.

I am very lost but trying to do something positive.

Just ring the helpline again. They'll complete the forms over the phone with you and send them to you to sign and return.

Unfortunately we dont complete the forms for you on the phone.

You call up the helpline, give your details - income for previous and current tax years and answer a few other questions.

When it is determined that you are eligible they will send a claim pack out.

We usually advise you to go to CAB or Enquiry Centre idf you need help filling it out.

Your details are only taken over the phone if you call up to report that you have seperated form your partner and you are taken through a new single claim.

    LittleMissMessy,

I know how frustrated you feel. I also have only a mobile and it's a fortune to call any of the 'free' numbers. I went to my local Inland Revenue and called from there, they said they'd be sending the forms to me.
    Maybe you could try them.
    Good luck.
  • Gazella, if you go to www.saynoto0870.com you can get the landline numbers to call.
