My current electricity annual useage is approx 6700kwh's

We live in a mid terrace house with GCH.

2 t.v's are turned off at night, but run all day

computer is turned off at night but runs all day

cooker is electric,

Kitchen light runs 24/7 for the dog and is one of them long round lights

Every other light has energy saving bulbs at 11w each, although 2 of these are on most of the day as we do not get much natural light into the house. But all are turned off at night except for the bathroom light due to the kids.

We have 2 fridge freezers one rated A and one rated C.

We have power/lighting in the shed, but it is hardly ever used.

I have noticed when looking in next doors garden that there seems to be a wire comming from the back of the shed, don't know what this is, but am sure no-one is stealing my elec.

Does this useage seem a lot?

What else can I do to bring it down.

With regard the lights being on in the day, is it better to use a floor lamp instead of the main light even though I am using energy saving bulbs.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Your electricity usage is rather high for a gas centrally heated house.

Never heard of a dog that needs light 24/7 but your kitchen light is probably rated at 50W, so you could provide light with an 11W energy saving lamp to save on consumption.

Isolating the supply to your shed at the main fuse box would eliminate the possible neighbour issue.

Does this useage seem a lot?

Yes but if you are using a lot of units every day, you will obviously have to pay unless you reduce your usage.

What else can I do to bring it down.

Try to find out exactly what is using your energy by using a cheap power meter.

With regard the lights being on in the day, is it better to use a floor lamp instead of the main light even though I am using energy saving bulbs.

It is the wattage of the lamps and the time that they are switched on that matter, not where they are fitted.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

LOL, never heard them described like that but I presume you mean a fluorescent fitting. They are already reasonably energy efficient, the wattage will depend on the length, for example a modern 4 foot fitting is 36w.
I think your problem is the amount of items you have switched on all day, If they are all necessary then there will be a cost.

I think mine is too high here it is for comparison.

annual usage according to meter approx 5000kw/h I live alone in 1 bed flat.

one pc on 24/7 but monitor off when not in use.
one tv turned off fully when not in use
one sky+ box in standby when not in use
one fridge (old not energy efficient)
electric cooker, only usually have one cooked meal a day which is usually oven cooked.
    gas heating
every lightbulb in flat is energy saving usually only hallway on and room I am in on.
everything else electrical is very light use such as radio only on during football matches.

my electric usage is approx 3x the person in flat above me and they have washing machine and hoover very often.
