Dear All,
I wonder if anyone can help me? I had a letter yesterday from the IVA Council saying I could have benn mis sold my IVA and that they could help me get some of myu money back.
I don't know what to do..... I am seriously struggling with my IVA payments and this seems to good to be true.
However, I just googled The IVA Council and apparently it is a scam - has anyone else had a letter like this?
Thank you

You and thousands of others.
The official government Insolvency Service made this statement:

Warnings were also issued by other respected organisations and forums:

Don't touch with a 1,000 mile long bargepole!
If you are struggling to meet your IVA payments, then you should talk to your IP/supervisor and/or talk to the free/impartial organisations as advised here: Non-profit Debt Counsellors' List.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Poo - I thought it was too good to be true!

Unfortunately most people struggle with IVA payments at some point.
The budget they allow you before they calculate what you can afford is often very very tight.
But if you are in the position where you may not be able to meet the payments, then talk to the IP/supervisor.
If think that an IVA was the wrong thing to do, then contact the free/impartial advice agencies for advice and options. Unlike the 'IVA Council', they are not out to extract even more money from you, and so will advise you in your best interests.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
