Travellers Cheques and Currency

Going to Cyprus in a few weeks and need to get Sterling TC's and Cypriot £'s. Tesco seems to offer a good service - anybody know of any other offers/cheap exchanges available at the moment? Thanks

We went to Cyprus last year. We took enough local currency for the first day, but then we used our Nationwide debit card to withdraw cash, as and when we needed it.
We got a much better rate from the ATM's and the rate just seemed to get better everyday.
Nationwide don't charge for taking cash out overseas.

Forgot to say we got our currency from Nationwide too, they just charge next day delivery fee of £3.50, no commission.

I wouldn't bother with sterling travellers cheques. You'll pay commission when you buy them then pay commission again when you cash them in Cyprus. It will be cheaper for you to take your cashcard and withdraw cash while you're over there. Even if you haven't got the Nationwide account it will still be cheaper.

Having never been to Cyprus before (going to Coral Bay/Paphos area) are there a lot of ATM's?

I would totally agree with other posts.
Just returned from Ionian Islands, and was tempted just before I went to nip into Lunn Poly when I saw a huge sign saying "No Commission Foreign Currency".
Their rate was 1.44 euro to the £.
Whilst in the islands, used my Nationwide Debit card, for some Euro's, and when I got home, checked the account online and found I got 1.495 Euro to the £, and absolutely no commission charges.
NATIONWIDE are brill for this perk !!
