Help! Bank charges not my fault

Hi!

Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum for this question but here goes :D

We had a situation at work where the BACS payments were not done on time, the boss has decided to pay us with a cheque. We did not recieve these cheques on the 31st of March and I have direct debits and standing orders going out from the 1st of April onwards.
I am likely to face some bank charges now and mentioned to the boss that I will be looking at passing these charges onto the company as it was not my fault the payment did not arrive in my account on time. The boss said he will not pay these charges.

Does anyone know where i stand on this issue.

Many Thanks

Ring your bank and ask for a temporary overdraft. Now.

Do you want to take your employer to a small claims court?

Unfortunately i already have an overdraft in use.

As a group of employees we are considering some action if they refuse to budge on this issue.

    Update
Looks like the boss is refusing to budge on this issue.
Can anybody advise on what would be the next move.

    Many Thanks

  • Would be a good idea to cancel your DD's to avoid being taken overdrawn or having them bounce then they may be no charges to worry about

It's never a good idea to have your DD's/SO's set too close to pay day.

Shifting them back a week or two will buy you some breathing space should it happen again.

During this time, you can then...

    1. Hope your salary is paid
    2. Ask for an overdraft or overdraft increase
    3. Transfer savings to cover
    4. Ask family for a loan
    5. Cancel DD's (but let the originators know of the problem)
