Hi,
just received a scam Halifax account update request, thought it was a bit strange, as I don't have Halfax account, so beware those of you that do, forward it to security@hbosplc.com, then delete.

Yes I receive these too. I have visited their site once or twice to look at savings and current accounts and soon after I receive an email asking for security detais to update my account!
This has happened before too when I went on the Natwest site, lo and behold an email asking me to update my security details.0 -
Hi,
funny, I don't normally visit the Halifax site, as I have no dealings with them, but on Sunday was looking for info on their S&S Isa, (for another thread), very strange, .0 -
I bank with Halifax and visit the website at least once a day but I have never, ever had a scam email claiming to be from them or any other bank!
But then again, no one has ever contacted me from Nigeria about a box of cash waiting to be collected etc....etc....
Maybe I am the only person on the whole WWW who is ignored by scammers?0 -
Ive had several of these emails recently and I am not a Halifax customer. I just delete them.Total DebtWas £4145.81now £0.000

I'm currently getting about 4 of these emails per day, plus the odd one for Abbey0

No, you're not.
Maybe it depends on your ISP to some extent ...Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.

..... tends to be a bit of a giveaway:p
Best place to send them on to is the dedicated site set up by APACS :-
http://www.banksafeonline.org.uk/report_scam.html
...... saves looking up the non-standard Email addresses all the different Banks choose to use in order to help us help them?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I received one too. It's unusual, I don't usually get these. It had come after, I don't know, a month ago, looking at possibly opening an account there. Seems to be a recurring theme, so any ideas why a lot of people who randomly look at the Halifax site once then start getting these mails? I don't know, just looks odd, doesn't it?0

Pure co-incidence. I haven't had any of the Bank ones for months - then 2 relating to Halifax, just this afternoon.
After all - if it's related to sites you've looked at ..... why do I get half a dozen Viagra ones each day?:rolleyes:If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
