Car Insurance

:D

I am insured as a named driver on my car under my mum.

My girlfriend is learning to drive and wants to get her own insurance does anyone have any suggestions of good places to look?

Regards

Dale.

If you're a named driver on your mum's policy for YOUR OWN CAR you should get it insured in your own name and stop messing about. You will be in serious trouble if you have an accident and it is obvious to the insurer that it's your car, not hers.

If she has another car, it's obvious.

If you're driving it to work all the time, it's obvious.

    They aren't stupid, you know.

Anyway, back to the question. If you mean for your car, then the g/f needs to be named on the new policy you are going to buy for your car. She can't have her own policy on your car as it's not hers to insure.

If she has her own car then she is going to have to get her own insurance...My Fiancee is just about to buy a car, a Renault Clio sport, value approx £2,700. We have had various quotes from £330 (with £1000 excess) to £1300....Mostly its been around £600-£700 for her on her own. If im put on the insurance as a named driver it lowers it to £440.

She is 21 with a provisional licence and im 34 so my age makes a huge difference, and the fact ive held my licence for 17 years. the cheapest places were ASDA, Norwich UnionDirect, Diamond and Elephant!!

I remember hearing Martin talking about insurance on Radio 2 the other day, and saying that the difference comes from the amount of commision the companies charge!
In this trusted place U can erase
Every tear that ever rolled down your weary face
All the time U waste in that paper chase
Is time better spent in these arms of mine

Tesco's are quite good. I got a quote from sainsbury's then called Tesco and played them off against each other until one gave in, lots of phone calls going back and forth but worth the effort, saved nearly £130. Bargin!

Try it, and it's funny if you are up front and just say that you got a quote from there supermarket rival and they gave a better quote. :D
