Best way to stop computer chair marking laminated flooring?

Hi there,

On my newly laid laminated flooring (not real wood) I have noticed that the castors at the bottom of computer chair can leave a faint mark which may be impossible to remove.

Any ideas on what to do to prevent this such as the best floor mat for laminate or any other ideas?

thanks
tina

"Chair mat"? Now I've heard everything! :) Whats wrong with carpet or lino or vinyl offcuts, they must be cheaper than £20

You might even get wood effect vinyl to match the floor.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

I tried carpet on laminate, despite it looking awful (offcut) it soon started to fray
I looked into vinyl but didn't see any I liked.

At least the pvc mat you can see through it. Computer chairs do make a mark on laminate. We had a round faint mark round the chair where the wheels were, which would get worse. In my last house the carpet where the chair was completely flattened the carpet despite hoovering and cleaning it never looked good

I got the one for hard floors about a year ago...it very soon looked awful....went slightly yellowy and was very difficult to clean...stuff seemed to get embedded in the plastic and never fully came out/off. I've given up with it and am just letting the laminate get on with it. 4 months and no signs of wear yet. This is in a main room.

I have had my chair in same place for a year and its good quality laminate, and its showing signs of wear. It would cost us a small fortune to replace it as it goes through the living room and dining room

I would rather pay £20 and than have any more marks on the floor

I agree it does seem to show muck easily the mate but I just give it a sweep and a wipe over and its fine

thanks for the great suggestion Poppycat. I bought the mat from argos, a nice heavy build of plastic will do the job ok I think ..thanks to others for replies too.

any recommendations what to do when your computer swivel chair has marked your laminate?!
it's good quality heavy duty laminate, but now there's a grey grubby-looking worn circular area where my computer chair is.
