Recommendations for a good digital camera please utpo £200

hi all

I'm becoming increasinlgy interested in photography and taking a 'good picture'

For the last few yeard ive had a Canon Ixus II (bought as a present for me) which has taken some great pics and served me well but i need to upgrade and realise this camera is out of date, esp with only 2 mp!!

So i'd like some recommendations please. I've read some old threads but would like up to date recommendations.

I want a good zoom
High mg's to take quality photos
Image stabiliser
Compatible with Mac and iphoto
compact
My limited knowledge of cameras...i think that's about it ?!

I've searched a few reviews sites and websites and 2 cameras seem to stand out:

Panasonic Lumix TZ3
Canon Ixus 75

Advice and recommendations appreciated thanks xx

Canon have just released new Ixus 970IS LINK which looks like the Canon for you. Just wait for the price to drop into your range LINK and then buy. While you're waiting add £10 a week in ebay sales to your budget and you'll soon get it. Look out for Cash back offers from canon as they try to get sales going.

Alternatively, save for a bridge camera or DSLR and do a night class starting in Sept.

I have just gone through the same dilemma, spent weeks researching, the only 2 cameras that seemed to get allround good reviews, were the panasonic lumix TZ2/3 and the one i ended up buying, the ricoh caplio r6,which just seemed to pip the TZ,there is an r7 but reviewers did'nt think it was worth spending the extra, the r6 is smaller and better looking than the TZ imho. the cheapest outlet i found for them both was http://www.fotosense.co.uk they have a shop in bolton lancs, look for reviews on both of these,i don't think you would be disappointed with either. the r6 was 125 quid the TZ3 was 150 quid

    Well I ordered a TZ3 today for £147 from https://www.7dayshop.co.uk

I'd spent alot of time looking and decided that was the best for me. If you have £200 thought eh Fujifilm f100rf is about to be launched which looks interesitng and Panasonic are replacing the TZ2/TZ3 with the TZ4/TZ5

The two things that made me pick the TZ3 were the 10x optical zoom (15x for 3MP pictures) and the wide angle lens.

There are a lot of reports that the pictures are noisy but I won't be blowing them up and most of my shots will be outdoors at low ISO's so hopefully I won't see any problems.

    https://www.dpreview.com

    https://www.cameralabs.com

    https://www.stevesdigicams.com

    and for price comparison: https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk

Everyone will have a different opinion, narrow it down, read the reviews and then choose.

camerapricebuster is a good site but remember they don't list all websites. They currently list the cheapest palce to get a TZ3, for example, as purely gadgets at £152.95 for the black version that I wanted. However I got it from 7dayshop for £147 plus p&p but that price included a 1Gb SD card.

So it pays to check other sites as well.
