Planning Permission??

Options
Our next door neigbour has added a fairly large extension onto the back of his detached garage. I would estimate it has increased the size by about one third. Did they need planning permission to do this? (it doesn't affect light or anything in our garden, was just wondering).

Thanks
Inside me there is a thin women screaming to get out.................so I shut the !!!!!! up with a biscuit.:D

this is an approx guide. they will need planning permission if any of the following is applicable

    1) it is a listed building
    2) you live in a conservation area
    3) the extension increases the overall area of the property by c. 10%
    4) they are raising the current roof line

if it has increased the overall size including main house by 33% then more than likely yes they need PP.

as this is a garage, you may need special advice which you can get through at the planning dept of your local council. ask for the planning duty officer. they are helpful
