Non EU National visiting Spain

I really need speedy advice please

Next week DS is 21, and for his birthday his Father and I are sending him and his gf to Barcelona for 3 nights (yes he IS lucky)
Now, Spain require lots of info. eg passport no. when you visit and the problem is that the girlfriend is Australian; we have read that she needs a 'letter of invitaion' in order to visit as she is not an EU national. Search as I might i just am not sure how she gets one, and they are due to fly next Tues(8th)
Can anyone help pl.

I have not heard of this. I know that when you book a flight to Spain on the internet, the airline company requests your passport details and forwards them to Spain prior to your arrival.
In view of the above, who have the flights been booked through? I would make your enquiry with them.
It seems very strange that a country like Spain should require visitors to be invited!
My uncle who has a Astralian partner travelled with her to Spain from the UK about 2 years ago, they did not need an invitation to do so.

I am sure this is not going to be a problem, but check on the web site for the Spanish embassy in London (and check again on that for their embassy in Australia). Find out whether Australian tourists require a visa, or what documents (if any) they must provide.

Australian passport holders enjoy 3 months visa-free travel into the EU.
