Hi all - i am pretty limited on my knowledge of all things computer so... i am after some basic speakers for my laptop - i am a little deaf in one ear so i find that when i try to watch a dvd or listen to music on my laptop (HP) i have to strain.....i dont wanna spend loads, i am pretty sure that for my "needs" (watching dvds and listening 2 music lol) i only need bog standard ones but are there any good deals around at mo and any "good" brands and how much is TOO cheap to pay lol???
Next......printers - all i wanna be able to do is print the odd letter out really from word doc! I guess i should get a colour one (or are they all colour now lol??) cos, why not?! so any good deals around...... if not, any brands to avoid?? For example in pc world they have hp printers for about £30 - are these gonna be AWFUL or would they do for what i want.....also do the cheaper printers have really expensive inky-stuff?? (see i really AM a dunce

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Cant recommend speakers, try EBay.
But for your printing needs have a google for a Samsung 1610, 2510, any cheap samsung for around £49........brilliant !0 -
If you don't need colour just get a basic laser printer such as amonra suggested. They are much cheaper to run than inkjets.
If you decide your eally want a colour inkjet then try a Canon MP210, they're about £35 but you cna get £20 cashback from Canon. The ink isn't particulalry cheap but they're decent printers.
Do you need speakers or would headphones be better?
No idea what speakers to recommend but I wouldn't spend a fortune as the soundcard in a laptop is unlikely to be top quality.
Maybe look at brands like Logitech or Creative. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Speakers:
I use an old stereo cassette player which has a input/microphone jack. I plug this into my computer.
Printer:
If you're only going to be printing the odd document, I'd recommend a cheap samsung laser printer. Check out www.ebuyer.com. Or if you don't mind used, try freecycle. Printers are being given away *all the time*. If your laptop is quite new, you'll probably need a usb printer, not the older parallel ones.
And don't ever buy usb cables from Currys. I heard they charge 17 pounds, when you can get them for less than 2 pounds in places like ebuyer. Please use OpenDocument (ISO 26300) format (.odt - .ods - .odp - .odg) for attachments0 -

I have these speakers, excellent quality as you would expect from Sony and they go as loud as you want with great bass too !
