Watched this when it was on before. Gave up by the second episode. Too many packets to open.
  • Where did it all go wrong with Delia  I left home at 18 being able to bake, but not much experience of making main courses. Delia taught me to cook from scratch. I had a copy of the Complete Cookery Course for my 21's birthday. I used it until after 20 years it was so fallen apart that I had to replace it :o It's still used weekly for loads of great recipes. She now seems to be selling out.
Hi all, just to let you know that Delia has a new show on BBC2 tonight at 7pm
In the first episode she is making various things from Instant Mash
    :j

Why   Wouldn't it be better to teach people to make mash (it's hardly difficult for most people, and the investment in a potato masher will pay for itself in no time). She's also using ready made potato wedges - why

When I saw the potato wedges with half boiled eggs and olives, I nearly lost my tea.

Granted ;) I work 2 days a week, and coming home from an 8hour day at work, soaked after a 8mile cycle ride in the rain, I wasn't keen to cook either. So I prepared a pasta bake this morning while making breakfast, and it went in the oven at 5pm for a 6:30 supper. It took about 20 minutes to prepare, and of that I was active for about 10 minutes, and is healthy, nutritious, and cheap :p

I'm making a courgette curry before I go out tomorrow, which will take 15 minutes to cook once I'm home from work.

I do understand this. BUT..... it is great to nuke your own home made meals. I also work fulltime but am luckier in that I am home by 6. I try to cook at weekends and freeze or else do a quick stir fry etc. I'm sure it's faster (and healthier) than Delia opening packets!! But I also understand the need to get food fast and in my case the brain not always engaging with the task. My way of dealing with this is to do a menu plan for the week and just defrost stuff in the morning before I go to work. Meals this week have been stir fry last night and tonight defrosted squash, lentil and tomato spicy stew (which ended up more like soup so I also had a baked potato with .....horrors....... shop bought coleslaw!! (even had ingreds for home made in the fridge but could not be faffed). My whole point is that it can be as quick to cook than to cheat. I'm another one who thinks Delia has lost the plot
