Fitting downlights

I want to fit downlights in my ground floor flat. Roughly about 24 low voltage bulbs with transformers and dimmer switches. Access to the roof is from my flat only, making small holes into the ceiling. I have 3 different quotes - one for £500, one for £1000 and another for £2000. But they all agree that it would take 3 days roughly to finish work.
I am so confused about such a difference in price. Does any one know how much these things should cost? And any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Ive known people to charge between £30 to £80 per low voltage light, thats supply and fit, now I know that in London, you will get charged the top end.0

I generally charge £30-£35 per light supply and fit. Decent fittings, osram lamps and one tranny per fitting.
I suggest customers lower their ceiling as I can't butcher the existing ceiling as it is a fire seperating ceiling.baldly going on...0 -

I cannot lower the ceiling anymore, as its low in the first place. And thats the reason for fitting downlights as I dont want to have pendants that make the ceiling feel lower. And I found fire-rated acoustic fittings. Will that not work? The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0 -
I got also got quotes from a local polish electrician, and he says he can do it for £500 for just the fitting. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0

Is the ceiling already lowered. If the ceiling has another above it then you could install them no problem
