How long does silicone sealant last?

Options
Hi there,

We are just about to put silicone round our new bath and were hoping to use the same one we used in our old house around 2 years ago. Just checked the tube which says it should be used only within 3 months but wasn't sure if this was actually the case or not.

If anyone knows about this and could advise, that would be great.

I would say it depends on how good it is and how it's stored.
I use some good quality silicone well after 3months without problems, but I guess I wont know if it will last the gatenteed 35 years or not for a while yet.

We have also used it over 3 months old, we tend to put a screw in the top of the nossel and some duck tape to hold it in, usually only a few mm has by then hardened and its easy to push out
